中国科学院院士，实验血液学家。上世纪七十年代吴祖泽领导的造血干细胞动力学研究代表了中国最早的干细胞医学生物学成就。

曾任军事医学科学院院长。现任军事医学科学院放射与辐射医学研究所研究员、总后勤部卫生部医学科学技术委员会副主任委员、中国医药生物技术协会再生医学分会主任、中国实验血液学杂志和军事医学杂志主编等。

SongtaoShi,D.D.S.,Ph.D.,isProfessorandDepartmentChairattheUniversityofPennsylvaniaSchoolofDentalMedicine.Dr.ShireceivedhisD.D.S.degreeandcertificateinPediatricDentistryfromthePekingUniversitySchoolofStomatologyandPh.D.inCraniofacialBiologyfromtheUniversityofSouthernCalifornia.PriortojoiningthefacultyattheUniversityofPennsylvania,heservedasaPrincipalInvestigatorandClinicalFellowfornineyearsattheNIDCRandaprofessorformorethaneightyearsattheUniversityofSouthernCalifornia.Hisgroupandhiscollaboratorswerethefirsttoidentifydentalpulpstemcells,babytoothstemcells,periodontalligamentstemcells,rootapicalpapillastemcells,tendonstemcells,gingivastemcells,scleraMSCs,andbenigntumorMSCsfromkeloidandossifyingfibroma.Thesenovelandlandmarkdiscoverieshaveopenedopportunityforscientiststoinvestigateoraltissuesderivedstemcellsandtheirusefortissueengineering,diseasemodeling,andclinicaltreatment.Intranslationalstudy,Dr.ShiandhiscollaboratorswerethefirsttouseMSCstotreatsystemiclupuserythematosus(SLE),periodontitis,bisphosphonate-relatedosteonecrosisofthejaw-likedisease(BRONJ)inanimalmodelsandpatients.Dr.Shihaspublishedmorethanpeer-reviewedarticlesinavarietyofhigh-impactscientificjournals,ofwhichheservedasthecorrespondingauthorinNatMedicine,CellStemCell,Lancet,JClinInvest,NatBiotechnol,ProcNatlAcadSciUSA,CellResearch,Blood,JBoneMinerRes,StemCells,andJDentRes.
